EcoCosy® partners with regions of raw material suppliers and together carries out the RER (RESTORASI EKOSISTEM RIAU) program to preserve and increase biodiversity. The conservation area is over twice the size of Singapore.
It is rich in biodiversity and home to over 797 species of plant and animal wildlife, with 57 threatened ones on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List included. and 114 species have been listed on CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). At the same time, rainforests, also named “Lungs of Earth”, reduce greenhouse emission by 688 million tons (FFI report).
This research is important to the biodiversity in the unique forest ecosystem. Studying the diversity of dragonflies and damselflies is critical to understanding the full diversity of RER’s unique peatland forest ecosystem. The variety and abundance of dragonflies present are a good indicator of environmental health and water quality. Sateri inaugurated the harmonious and friendly research project on small animals in 2018 to contribute to forest protection.
Sateri is the first participant from the fashion industry of “2030 Action of Fashion & Climate & Innovation”. It also launched the EcoCosy® Climate Leadership Program together with China National Textile & Apparel Council (CNTAC) on June 19th, the national Low Carbon Day, demonstrating the joint efforts from 1 fibre company, 6 yarn companies and 2 fabric companies.
EcoCosy® Climate Leadership is a voluntary emission reduction plan which targets large supply chain enterprises and brands of fibre, yarn and fabric. It includes actions on climate empowerment, estimation, shared innovation and application to implement emission reduction practices and encourage value chain partners to innovate in a low-carbon way.
Sateri is one of the founding members of “Fashion & Climate & Innovation Funds”.
Estimate the carbon footprints of global operation and value chain.
Sateri actively explores in setting up its reduction goals and paths to mitigate impacts of climate changes considering the requirement of 2°C limit in the average global temperature and the commitment of reaching carbon peak before 2030. While paying attention to reduce carbon footprint in our own operations, we also utilize our influence to promote the supply chain to share the responsibility. By working with our commercial partners in the industrial chain, we facilitate a low-carbon-oriented industrial transformation.
